Heather Mongilio is a personnel reporter with USNI News, a nonprofit newsroom covering the Navy and the Marine Corps. Her work recently has focused on COVID-19 vaccination among sailors and Marines and the Russian invasion into Ukraine.
Before joining USNI News, Heather worked as the military affairs reporter and Report for America corps member at the Capital Gazette. Her work focused on the Naval Academy and Fort Meade.
She previously covered health, Fort Detrick and social services, including leading coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, for The Frederick News-Post.
Heather also reports on domestic violence, traumatic brain injuries, the costs of health care and infectious diseases.
